“There is a dark sensual fascination to Britt-Marie Tidemand’s paintings” also in the ones she presents at M.A.D.S. Art Gallery during the EMERGING Art exhibition.

Similar in their colors and in the lines thatcompose the subjects, the three scenes are the representation of the Swedish artist’s artistic essence.

Eachpiece shows a dreamland atmosphere in which throughout the colorful background some naked bodieseasily fluctuate. Softer is the giving of the lines composing the characters, opposed to the ones of the darkand deep brushes creating the background. ‘Over my Bed’; ‘Hold Me’ and ‘Hanging Around’ refigure theartist’s emotions and feelings to which she wants the viewers to look at. The faces of the main charactersof the scenes seem to be sad and grotesque absorbed in their feelings and emotions. Looking attentively atthe bodies is it possible to enter the scene, to feel and hear the same sentiments. The sinuousness of thecurves into the ‘sea of fire’ in which they lay, is something the artist has created in order to permit theviewers to see the positive also into the difficulties of life.

Thirty highly regarded painters from twelve nations have employed Placrylic to create these sustainable plant paintings In keeping with the art fair theme of pandemics and migration, the artists used a limited palette of placrylic colours; eco black, eco blue, eco yellow and eco green Paintings to be unveiled at the fair include a portrait of Damien Hirst burning his paintings, painting of smallpox vaccine advocate, Lady Mary Wortley Montagu and other migration themed works of art This event will also be live streamed on YouTube and available on demand

There is a dark sensual fascination to Britt-Marie Tidemand’s paintings. The Swedish artist portrays the emotions buried deep within our psyche with fearless intensity. Grotesque faces emerge from a pitch black background, their mouths locked in an agonizing grimace; beautiful longilineal figures stand at the center of the canvas, looking back at us enigmatically, as if coming from a dream; twisted bodies float upside down in a sea of fire. The palette is warm: reds, oranges, yellows accompanied by shades of gold, chocolate, and black. The texture is buttery and soft, as conveyed by oil paint, either alone or mixed with sand from the shores of Gothenburg. Through her work Tidemand wants us to feel, hear, and see at all costs. Even if this means dragging us into the flames, blasting our ears with cries of agony, or dazzling our eyes with beauty. Tidemand has exhibited widely in Scandinavia as well as in Italy and New York.

Her art was on permanent display at Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden, and appeared on the cover of Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital’s 2009 and 2010 annual reports. Tidemand holds an MBA and a degree in Fashion Design. Alongside painting, she exercises her left brain cells as the CFO of a medical company.

Britt-Marie Tidemand: The Caveats Of Creation As a professional artist that delves to go beyond the traditional to create her own singular form of expression, Britt-Marie Tidemand has cultivated a presence that is to be admired, respected, and studied. From start to finish, she has taken her artistry to new heights and shared it internationally in her own way, and on her own terms. In a exclusive interview in NY-ArtNews 2021 in New York, Tidemand gets introspective as she shares her perspectives on how her background has shaped her artistic spirit, how her creative process is shaped, the role of artists in society, the transformative experiences she has gone through, and much more. https://www.ny-artnews.com/single-post/britt-marie-tidemand-the-caveats-of-creation
